Spotlights Unveil Upcoming Album and 2023 US Tour Plans, Release Captivating Single “Algorithmic”

The release date for Alchemy for the Dead is set for April 28th, courtesy of Ipecac Recordings.

Spotlights, the celebrated post-metal collective, has unveiled their upcoming album, Alchemy for the Dead, set to drop on April 28th. Additionally, they’re hitting the road for an extensive U.S. spring tour. Fans can also now view the music video for the album’s premiere single, “Algorithmic.”

The tour is scheduled to commence on April 26th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and conclude on June 24th in Brooklyn, New York. Midway through their tour, Spotlights will team up with fellow Ipecac artists Mr. Bungle and Melvins for a segment of the already announced “Geek Show” tour. This joint segment spans from May 11th to May 24th.

Tickets for specific performances can be acquired through Ticketmaster or StubHub. If you can’t find your preferred date, it might be worth checking Songkick.

The freshly minted single “Algorithmic” provides a tantalizing hint of what fans can anticipate live. Its rich, resonant tones coupled with melodious vocals are reminiscent of bands like Nine Inch Nails. The track seamlessly weaves together elements from industrial, sludge metal, and moody alternative rock.

Mario Quintero, the band’s multi-talented vocalist and instrumentalist, shared insights on the album’s creative process: “In crafting this album, our primary intent was to venture beyond our usual sound. I believe we’ve realized that aim. While we hold all our previous works in high esteem, churning out another typical ‘Spotlights’ album wasn’t on our agenda. With this release, we’ve strived to explore fresh sounds and themes, pushing our own boundaries. The end result feels like a new trajectory for the band, marked by catharsis, intimacy, and a touch of the unfamiliar. We trust our fans will be on board for this journey.”
