Massive Box Set “Epoch” Announced by DeYarmond Edison, Justin Vernon’s Former Band

The monumental 83-song anthology showcases the early stages of future Bon Iver and Megafun members’ musical journeys.

Before Justin Vernon became the driving force behind Bon Iver, he led DeYarmond Edison, a band he established with his childhood friends Joe Westerlund, Brad Cook, and Phil Cook. These early works from the future icons of indie rock are now set for a grand unveiling with ‘Epoch’, a comprehensive box set, slated for release on August 18th through Jagjaguwar. A sneak peek is available now with the single “As Long As I Can Go” b/w “Feel the Light”, and a remastered take on their 2005 track, “Bones.”

‘Epoch’ spans an impressive collection of 83 recordings—many of which will be introduced to listeners outside the band for the first time. The box set is spread across five LPs and four CDs, with material dating back as far as 1998. Accompanying the music is an extensive 60,000-word biography, penned by journalist, executive producer, and self-proclaimed biggest fan Grayson Haver Currin. This anthology vividly chronicles DeYarmond Edison’s transformation: from high school rockers performing under the name Mount Vernon, through to their eventual transition into projects like Bon Iver and Megafun, and the respective solo careers of the members. Pre-orders for this exceptional box set are now available.

Treat your ears to “As Long As I Can Go,” “Feel the Light,” and the remastered “Bones” below. Continue scrolling to explore the striking artwork and extensive tracklist for ‘Epoch’.
